On Saturday, my mom celebrated her birthday. For over a week, I tried to find the perfect restaurant. Eventually, I settled with Tamarind Continental Cuisine in Barbican. I’d dine at the Tamarind Indian before in February for a friend’s birthday, and my experience was great.
Tamarind Continental is the sister restaurant of Saffron Indian Cuisine & Tamarind Indian Restaurant which offers a fusion of European cuisines.
The first thing that captured my attention was the wall art. It reminded me of a classic French cafe with a bit of modernity.
We jumped right into the main courses since many of us hadn’t eaten all day.
Nick and I ordered the Grilled Shrimp in Lemon Butter Sauce.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Our reservations were at 7 pm, and we weren’t served until 8:30 pm. Half of us almost passed out from hunger pangs.
Our waitress was very apologetic. She advised that they were short staffed and had to cater to both sides (Indian and Continental) of the building.
Honestly, we were just glad we had our food.
I was not a fan of the Lemon Butter sauce on the alioleolio spaghetti, and Nick agreed. It had a sour taste that I was not expecting.
Also, the portion was way smaller than I imagined.
I was much more fond of the Stuffed Mushrooms that my aunt had ordered and the Grilled Chicken with Pink Peppercorn and Brandy sauce that my mom ordered.
My mom had a great time, and that was the aim of the night. Although the service wasn’t great, the food made up for it.
I would definitely try this restaurant again and order the Stuffed Mushroom Chicken. I’m still having the feels for it. Hopefully, all or most of the staff will be present to avoid the long wait.
Until next time. Nuff love Shevoneese
