Keera Organics Tumeric Soap Review

Since summer I have been looking for my holy grail skincare routine. Island Skincare’s Coconut oil was a great find, but I still didn’t have a method. A couple of months ago, I saw several persons on social media raving about the Tumeric soap from Keera Organics.

I’d heard excellent things about Tumeric overall in beauty care, so I quickly googled the nearest outlet so that I could get my hands on the product. Fontana Pharmacy was the nearest outlet in my area, and I wasted no time getting there.

At Fontana

The shelf at Fontana was nearly empty. I searched for the Tumeric soap, and I only found the Soursop soap which is another product available in their skincare line. I almost gave up, but Nick scoured the shelves and found three soaps tucked away at the back of the haircare products.

This product was so hot that consumers resorted to hiding them for future purchase. I bought all three.

Sneaky!

Since this soap was good as others say, I decided to purchase all three to ensure my demand.

At First Glance

Keera Organics Tumeric Soap
The soap’s packaging is a clear saran wrap with a green and white label which states the brand name, the type of soap, main ingredients and what alleviations it can treat. The bar has a dingy cream colour with little chunks of turmeric-infused in it.

The best thing about this bar….it’s 100% natural ingredients and Jamaica made.

About The Soap

According to the Keera Organics website, the Turmeric Soap contains organic turmeric plant extract which is extracted from the most potent part of the plant, the root. The formula was devised by their experts so that it works in balance with all skin types and is effective against acne, eczema and Dark spots. The bar apparently has some natural antiseptic and antibacterial properties to fight pimples and breakouts while providing a youthful glow to the skin.

Now, I’ve been using this product a little over two and a half months, and I’ve achieved few results so far. I’ve seen subtle changes in my skin. It’s a bit lighter around my eyebrows and my T-zone, my skin isn’t dry after I’ve washed my face and I’m less oily than I used to be.

However, my skin has a rough texture which shows under my makeup. It almost looks like a dry patch, but my skin isn’t dry. I have a lot more breakouts around the areas that have been lightened, and my dark spots are more visible than before.

I’m not sure if this is a result of the product, but I’m inclined to believe so since it is the only product in my current skincare regime excluding my moisturizer.

Final Thoughts

I plan to finish the three months as scheduled. However, I don’t think I would repurchase this product for myself. While it did for work for others like my mother, it didn’t work for me. I do give it points for the oil control; I’m less oiler at the end of the day. Overall, based on the results as it relates to my skin, I would give this product a 3/10.

Have any of you tried Keera Organic’s Tumeric soap or any other Tumeric product currently or in the past? Let me know in the comments and share any recommendations.

Nuff Love, Shevoneese.

I’m in Love With The Handbag Hanger

Do you remember the first time you saw that gorgeous handbag? The vibrant colour, the silky texture, the envious stares from your friends? How powerful you felt when you stepped into that meeting with it slung over your shoulder?

Admit it, your bags have been there for you. Through earlier mornings, long nights, forgetful and stressful moments, they’ve held your hand.

But have you been there for your bags? More importantly, have you been showing them, love?

My bags are my babies however, I’m guilty of not showing them enough love. While I treat them with care when I wear them out, they’re usually tossed in a corner, on the chair or stuffed in some box because of the limited space.

Seven out of ten times, they get creases and twists that ruin their beauty. I was tempted to slow down my love affair until I found out about the handbag hanger.

WHAT IS THE HANDBAG HANGER?

The answer is simple….it’s where your bags belong when you’re not wearing them. HBH is an Austrailian company founded by the talented, chief lover of bags, Michelle Zillman.

You would have read her guest post about the hottest handbag trends and the hanger last month.

Personally, I think the handbag hanger is an ingenious idea.

  1. Saves space
  2. Makes my room or closet look more organized- I no longer have a big box cluttering my closet and ruining my shoes.
  3. Portability- It can be moved from one place to the next, wherever you feel comfortable.
  4. It’s made out of strong steel that doesn’t bend or rust, so it’s guaranteed to last.
  5. My handbags never looked happier
  6. It’s not just for bags! Scarfs, jewellery…you name it.

If our dresses, t-shirts and shoes have their own storage method, why not our bags?

ALL OF YOUR BAGS TAKEN CARE OF

The hanger comes in 2 sizes; Petite and Grande. The Petite holds 2 bags and can carry up to 231 pounds roughly. The Grande holds up to 12 bags and carries up to 110 pounds roughly. With the heaviest bag weighing 16 pounds.

There are four collections to choose from named after the world’s 4 major fashion centres: New York, London, Milan and Paris. These collections are based on the number and types of bags that the designers think typically owned.

Of course, if you desire more space you can always, order several collections based on your needs.

I received the Paris model which included a Grande hanger, a Petite hanger and fourteen (14) spongy strap supports.

Assembling the hanger was easy, I just had to push the straps onto the hanger. It was a bit tight in getting the straps on but with a little force, it was on.

The Petite hanger is the perfect accessory for a lunch or dinner out. If you have no available space to place your bag in the restaurant, you can hook the hanger to your chair and store your bag and/or scarf.

Unbelievable right? Can you see why I’m in love?

Final Thoughts

I absolutely recommend the handbag hanger to anyone. It’s not just a great accessory for storage space for your bags, scarves and jewellery but it’s an excellent way to preserve your investments.
It’s the perfect gift for yourself and a friend.

Hello, My Lovelies!

It’s finally the weekend. For the last week and a half, I had been searching for a new series to watch. My Netflix was a huge disappointment as most of the series recommended to me by friends, I’d already watched.

I was a Netflix rut. No-one was more surprised than me. What was I going to watch when I was getting ready for work in the mornings?

In the same week and a half of my search, I kept seeing #InsecureHBO on my Twitter timeline. At the time, I thought it was one of those reality shows, so I disregarded it.

Desperation got the better of me, and I clicked on the hashtag.

Guuuuyyysss! I was living under a rock because nobody bothered to tell me about the awesomeness that is Insecure. Issa Rae is AMAZING!

I started season one on Tuesday and ya’ll….I’m on season two right now, and I’m sad because I’m going to have to wait for the next episode to drop on HBO.

About The Show

For those of you who were living under the rock with me, Insecure is an HBO original comedy-drama series based partially on Issa Rae’s widely lauded web series The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl. It follows the awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern-day African-American woman played by Issa Rae.

Issa and her best friend Molly deal with real life flaws as they attempt to navigate different worlds and cope with an endless series of uncomfortable experiences.

Who here has ever felt awkward in their lives?

I can relate to Issa’s character so much. Especially the club scene in Season 1, Episode 1. I vividly remember in college where I was waiting for a friend at a party and I saw this guy across the courtyard smiling at me or at least I thought it was me.

So we’re there making flirty eyes at each other from across the room. Finally, he signalled me over to join him; I made it half way across the room about to open my mouth to say something ridiculous when this girl out of nowhere; pushed passed me, leaving me in a tornado of her perfume and started dry humping the guy on the dance floor.

Awkward right?

I wanted the earth to open up and swallow me whole in that instance. Unlike Issa, I couldn’t rap about it, but I did write a short story which was popular among my peers.

If you’re not obsessed with Insecure, here are four reasons why you should be.

  1. It’s asking hard questions about racism

As a series about black women, racism will be an unfortunate topic of conversation. But thankfully the creative team diplomatically breakdown and explores the complexities of the issue.

2. It’s making a statement about women

Insecure speaks up for women and shows how powerful they can be when they support each other; even though they sometimes have a weird way of showing it. Women empowerment has been the order of the day but not many women exercise it. If you’ve read my previous about the devil wearing a skirt, then you’d understand why I say it’s not being exercised.

3. The comedy is genuine

The series doesn’t try hard to be funny. Issa’s awkwardness, personality and raps are naturally entertaining. From her lipstick shade personality to her Broken P&&y rap, you can’t help but laugh.

4. It isn’t solely focused on relationships but…

We can’t help but root for her relationship with Lawrence and Daniel. Still, Insecure balances relationship drama with the characters’ external lives. Needless to say, you will be obsessed.

Have you watched Insecure? Are you tuning into Insecure Season 2? Tell me what you think in the comments!

I have always been a huge fan of the Pantene Line; The Pantene Gold Series did not disappoint. The products have always been fantastic, and the smells are just as awesome. I got an incredible opportunity to review my latest vox box from Influenster which featured the Gold Series Line.

Which Pantene Gold Series Items did I get?

I received Shampoo, the conditioner, and Butter creme. The shampoo definitely removes any previous product, and the smell is great. However, it tends to feel watery and not as rich as most shampoos. On the other hand, the conditioner did not disappoint. The conditioner was richer than the shampoo and contained Aragon oil in its ingredients, which is a super plus for me.

The butter creme was a great start to begin my wash and go. The steps after Butter creme was: Detangle, spritz with Aragon Oil and a Leave In.

My Results

My wash and go lasted about four days. I loved the shine, the smell and the fact that my hair didn’t felt dry and it looked healthy.

Happy Wednesday Loves!!!

This review has been long overdue. So let’s get into it.

Last Monday, Nick and I caught the 8:45 pm showing of Wonder Woman. We had been highly anticipating this movie ever since her appearance in Batman vs. Superman.

It’s no secret that DC is known to drop the ball when it came to the recreation of superhero movies, so we kept our expectations to a minimum.

The film began and our minds, well specifically my mind was just blown. Wonder Woman genuinely was everything I wanted out of a superhero movie and more. Not only did we get a lot of bad ass action sequence like when she flipped off the tank or went head first into the top of the building to stop a sniper but the director, Patty Jenkins, really infused a lot of emotions along with the action. Each character was portrayed as realistic persons, and we get to know their little idiosyncrasies.

I loved that they didn’t allow Wonder Woman to save the world right away. The problem I normally have with some superhero movies, although they are superheroes, they seem to have a handle on their powers pretty quickly, and it seemed unrealistic to me. But that wasn’t the case here.

Although Diana was training all her life for the epic battle with Ares, we see her slowly getting familiar with her powers and the real world.

I believe Gal Gadot was the perfect fit for WonderWoman. Her acting was one of the best elements of the movie. Before becoming the leading woman in the film, Gadot was pretty close to ending her acting career. On the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the star said she had been planning to wrap her acting career shortly before Wonder Woman came through because of numerous rejections.

However, the Isreali actress brought the character to life on the big screen, and we love her and what she represented. Fans were even more impressed by her dedication to the film when the revelation was made that she was five months pregnant during reshoots.

If you have watched the movie, what was your best part? Did you think Gal Gadot did an excellent job bringing an all time favorite super heroine to the big screen?
